Babygirl alpha · last updated November 2026
Babygirl is a program on your PC. We run no servers for it and collect nothing from it: there is no account with us, no analytics, no tracking, and no automatic crash upload.
What goes to Second Life
When you log in, Babygirl sends Linden Lab what a Second Life viewer sends to log in:
- your account name, and your password in the login system's hashed form (never the plain password);
- where you want to start (your last location, home, or a region);
- the viewer's name and version, and your Windows version;
- two hashed machine IDs, made from your network adapter's address and your disk's serial number (if those can't be read, your PC's name, hashed the same way). The raw values never leave your PC.
After that, Babygirl talks to Second Life's servers to show you the world, your inventory, chat and IMs. What Linden Lab does with this is covered by Linden Lab's own privacy policy.
What stays on your PC
Babygirl keeps almost everything in its own folder (by default %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Babygirl;
Start menu > Babygirl > "Babygirl folder" opens it):
- Your login, with the password as plain text. Babygirl saves your Second Life name and password in
login_profiles\creds.txt, and sets that folder so other Windows accounts on this PC can't open it (an administrator still can). In this alpha, every login is saved this way. - Chat and IM logs, on by default: a chat log and IM logs for each day, plus the chat and IM
history shown in Babygirl's chat windows, saved when you log out. To stop the daily logs, close Babygirl, open
preferences.txtin its folder and changeChatLogEnabled=TruetoChatLogEnabled=False. That stops only the daily logs: the history saved when you log out stays on. - Your settings, muted people, outfits and landmarks.
- A cache of what you've seen in-world. It can grow to a few GB.
- Babygirl's logs, in the
logsfolder. - If Babygirl ever hangs, a small diagnostic file in the
logsfolder. It can hold bits of what Babygirl had in memory at that moment, so it stays on your PC: the logs zip never takes it.
Outside that folder: sounds are cached in %APPDATA%\babygirlH\sounds, and if you set up Ellie, your
sign-in for her stays in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Babygirl.
Other places Babygirl connects to, only when you use them
- Parcel music is off when you first start Babygirl. If you turn it on, Babygirl connects to the music stream of the land you're on. That stream is run by whoever set it up, and they can see your IP address. Turning music off again mutes it, but the stream can keep running silently in the background.
- DJ broadcasting: if you broadcast, your audio goes to the stream server you entered. In this alpha, the stream password you type is sent to that server unencrypted.
- Ellie, the optional helper: if you sign in to your own Claude (Anthropic), Codex (OpenAI) or Gemini (Google) account for her, what you type to Ellie, your conversation with her, and the in-world details she looks up to answer you are sent to that company through its own tool, under its own terms.
Logs you send us
"Send Babygirl logs" (in the Start menu) makes a zip on your Desktop. Nothing is sent until you send it yourself. It holds Babygirl's logs, your settings file, and your PC's basic specs (Windows version, graphics card, CPU, memory, free disk space). The logs show your Second Life name, the places you visited, the network addresses of the Second Life servers you used, and folder paths on your PC. Send logs replaces your Windows user name in them with <user>, and session keys and password fields with <redacted>. The zip never holds your password, your chat or your IMs. We use it only to fix bugs. If you post it in the alpha's Discord channel, the other testers there can see it too.
Uninstalling
The uninstaller removes Babygirl, its cache and its program logs (not your chat history), then asks before deleting your saved logins, chat history, settings, Ellie's sign-ins and the sound cache. "No" (the default) keeps them all, including the password file.
